This exhibition features work in a variety of printmaking techniques including screenprint, etching, collagraph, relief print and cyanotype created by members of Southwest Scotland Printmakers. This volunteer-led printmaking cooperative fosters a vibrant community of artists, promotes printmaking as an art form, and helps provide access to quality printmaking facilities and resources, including the print studio at Gracefield. With 30 members taking part for this year’s winter show, there’s a wealth of talent in this selling exhibition. Offering the chance to buy framed work off the wall, unframed editions from browsers, and printed multiples such as Christmas cards, bookmarks and textiles.

**This November, The Stove Cafe welcomes artist Andrew Nichol to share a collection of paintings created over the past 12 months during a pro-longed hospital stay.** **Exhibition \| Flow State by Andrew Nichol** Focusing on experimentation, mark-making and the expressive quality of the paint, Andrew has created a huge body of work over the course of a year, working on several paintings each evening. His quick and immediate way of creating has inspired us to reflect on the process of creativity and ‘getting into the flow’. The best way to make art is to start! Join Andrew and some of the Stove team on Tuesday 3rd November for an open creative café session where, as part of the exhibition programme, Andrew will be sharing some of his techniques and we’ll be exploring a playful and immediate way of creating together. Referencing her teenage years, Mendick has transformed the space into a haunting, immersive experience that explores the uncertainty, awkwardness, and societal expectations surrounding adolescence. Assembled on a spiralling desk that references the often cruel loop of teenagehood, Growing Pains features Alice-in-Wonderland-style ceramic dolls' houses that burst open, with teenage figures erupting from within. The work captures the surreal pressures that emerge at the threshold of adulthood, underlining the tension between a yearning for parental acceptance and the simultaneous urge to reject it. Jupiter+Nation is an ambitious off-site programme by Jupiter Artland that brings world class art to high streets across Scotland. Low mobility walks starting from Gracefield Arts Centre. They include a short 20 minute walk and 10-15 minutes of strength and balance exercises. These walks are suitable for people who walk at a slower pace or perhaps use walking aids. The exercises are important for improving strength, balance, stamina, flexibility and can help prevent falls.

As the days draw in and autumn gives way to winter, join us around the table for an evening of making, gathering and noticing the season. We invite you to join us for the very first Ferlie Seasons gathering. We'll spend a couple of hours exploring the season through a creative printing workshop inspired by the natural world in November, with seasonal bakes, gathered teas and a few stories from the landscape along the way. Seasons is about stepping out of the usual rush for a couple of hours, a chance to gather with good company, to make something, try something new, enjoy good food and conversation, and spend a little time noticing the season around us. For our first evening, Welcoming Winter we'll explore the transition into the darker months through making, seasonal stories and a few of the things that make this time of year special. Your evening includes: A seasonal creative activity For November's edition of Seasons, we will spend time designing and using simple printing techniques to create our own seasonal wrapping paper and cards inspired by the natural world around us. All materials are provided. No previous experience or particular creative ability needed, just come along and have a go. A little seasonal knowledge We'll share some stories, traditions and observations connected to the turning of the year, with a particular focus on Scotland and the landscape around us. Seasonal tea & homemade treats Enjoy a selection of gathered herb teas and homemade seasonal bakes, including foraged ingredients particularly linked with this time of year. A beautiful, cosy setting We'll gather around one long communal table, surrounded by seasonal foliage and the simple details that make an evening feel special. Something to take home You'll leave with something you've made and a small seasonal token from Ferlie to continue the experience at home. Two hours to yourself Perhaps most importantly, this is time away from the usual to-do list. No pressure to be sociable, no expectation to be “good” at making things, just a couple of hours to slow down, try something different and enjoy. Taking place on **Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November**, the fair brings together artists and makers working across a wide range of disciplines, from ceramics, jewellery and textiles to painting, printmaking, woodwork and more. Visitors can browse and buy directly from artists and makers, discover original work and unique gifts, while meeting the people behind what they make. **Creative Workshops** This year, Upland Made will also feature a programme of **creative workshops**, giving visitors the chance to get hands-on and try something new. Artist **Martin Clarkson** will lead a relaxed drawing workshop in The Crichton Gardens, encouraging participants to slow down, look closely and explore the shapes, textures and stories of trees through charcoal and sketching. Young at Heart is a social group for the over 50s, formed at Summerhill Community Centre in February 2012 and now more than 100 members strong. Music and dancing, guest speakers, bingo and games, every Monday from 2pm to 4pm. Everyone is made very welcome — come along one Monday, or call the centre on 01387 247344.

Pop-in and help recycle donated bikes. Once bikes are assessed they are either repaired or stripped down for parts and scrap metal. Monday night sessions give you the opportunity to either take on a repair project or help keep the workshop stocked with useable spare parts. Either way you'll be giving new life to old bikes or reducing the amount of just that goes to waste.
