Our love of dogs has been part of our national identity for centuries and affection for our canine companions shows no sign of waning. This exhibition shows the work of international artists, designers, illustrators and photographers who use dogs as their subject matter and inspiration. The show looks at the influence and impact that dogs have had on these artists’ practise and will also give a brief insight into how dogs have become such an integral part of our lives. This family friendly exhibition, where well behaved, dry dogs will be allowed in the Gallery for the first time, includes a host of dog themed interactives and competitions. Visitors can draw and display their ‘pooch pawtraits’, and find out what they’d look like as a dog using the specially commissioned digital interactive. Artists featured include Sophie Ryder, William Wegman, David Shrigley, Gerrard Gethings, Rafael Mantesso, Holy Smoke, Martha Todd, Shauna Richardson, Lucy Casson, Mychael Barratt, Bryony Rose Jennings, Michael Gillette, John Bond, Zoe Whiteside, Sally Muir, Ryan K Taylor, Sophie Gamand, Georgina Warne, Gemma Rees, Whatshisname, Lazerian and Margaret Couch Cogswell. Well behaved, dry dogs on leads will be allowed in our Gallery 2 space with their owner (rules apply!). No dogs in the cafe.

Low mobility walks which start from Summerhill Community Centre. They include a short 20 minute walk and 10-15 minutes of strength and balance exercises. These walks are suitable for people who walk at a slower pace or perhaps use walking aids. The exercises are important for improving strength, balance, stamina, flexibility and can help prevent falls.

**Print has long been at the heart of social movements, giving communities the tools to share stories, amplify voices and inspire change** To celebrate Dumfries Pride 2026, join us for three weekly sessions at the Print House as we uncover the art of risograph printing. Together we’ll create everything from activist posters and queer zines to bold graphic prints, learning the riso process from first ideas to finished editions. Whether you’re interested in creative activism, self-expression or simply trying something new, come and print with us. We encourage everyone to attend all three weeks if they can, as each session will dive a little deeper into the Riso process, giving you the fullest experience. That said, if you can’t make all three weeks, no worries at all, you’re still very welcome to join us! Pride & Print is three weeks of making, experimenting and getting a little obsessed with Riso, created with D&G’s LGBTQ+ community in mind. What is risograph printing? Risograph (or ‘riso’) is an unpredictable print process that sits somewhere between screen printing and photocopying. It uses bright soy-based inks and a stencil-based method to produce bold, textured, layered prints with a beautifully handmade feel. Each colour is printed one or two layers at a time – meaning happy accidents, weird overlaps, and slight misregistrations are all part of the charm. It’s fast, affordable, eco-conscious, and ideal for posters, zines, flyers, art prints, comics, and more. Riso is loved for its vibrant colours that can’t be replicated through digital means, low-fi textures, and its power to turn the ordinary into something full of life and energy. **Accessibility Information** The Print House is step-free and located on a single level, with an accessible toilet available on site. The space is compact, so we recommend getting in touch in advance if you’d like to plan your visit. In each session we’ll chat about a writing-related topic, then provide prompts and a theme, and the opportunity to write based on the inspiration. It might be a character sketch, or a piece of description or dialogue. The key thing is that it will be your words, and they’d never have been born if you’d stayed at home that night. Sessions are expertly guided by thought-provoking prompts, offering dedicated time for free-flowing expression. Afterward, participants have the opportunity to share their creations within supportive groups, receiving valuable tips to enhance their writing skills and boost confidence. Whether you’re rediscovering the joy of the creative process or seeking inspiration for your existing project, Write fosters a collaborative and experimental environment. The Last Journey is a photographic exhibition by Gerry Robertson, evoking the last few weeks of Burns's life from the Brow Well to his final resting place. The opening is at 7pm on the 3rd of July at the Robert Burns Centre and the exhibiton will be taking place in what used to the Bonnie Bistro. The exhibition will run from tonight until the end of September during the usual opening hours. The exhibition is kindly supported by Ottersburn, contemporary fine art picture framers. The Museum will also be revealing some new scale models. Music, nibbles and speakers will round off the night.

**JUPITER+NATION DUMFRIES** Growing Pains is a site-specific installation by artist Lindsey Mendick set in an abandoned estate agent's office. Referencing her teenage years, Mendick has transformed the space into a haunting, immersive experience that explores the uncertainty, awkwardness, and societal expectations surrounding adolescence. Assembled on a spiralling desk that references the often cruel loop of teenagehood, Growing Pains features Alice-in-Wonderland-style ceramic dolls' houses that burst open, with teenage figures erupting from within. The work captures the surreal pressures that emerge at the threshold of adulthood, underlining the tension between a yearning for parental acceptance and the simultaneous urge to reject it. Jupiter+Nation is an ambitious off-site programme by Jupiter Artland that brings world class art to high streets across Scotland. Content warning: The supporting documentary film contains strong language, references to suicide, bullying and negative body image that some viewers might find difficult. Young people must be accompanied.
